NFL TABS FORMER SAINTS EXEC TO OVERSEE CLEVELAND EFFORT

The NFL reportedly will announce the appointment of a
project coordinator to oversee league operations in Berea, OH,
and two sources say the job will go to former Saints Exec VP Jim
Miller, according to Tony Gossi of the Cleveland PLAIN DEALER.
The league wants a "full-time staff in place by July 1," and it
already has Ted Chappelle, former Browns Security Dir and Berea
Safety Dir. The project coordinator would "oversee future NFL-
related activity" at the facility and serve as "NFL point man"
on negotiating the arrival of the new Browns (Cleveland PLAIN-
DEALER, 6/9).
HIGHER CALLING: White was among a number of ministers who
met with U.S. Justice Dept. officials in DC Monday about the
recent rash of fires in predominantly black southern churches.
After the meeting, White called for help from the NFL. White:
"I'm calling my league, the NFL. I'm calling each team to adopt
a church, to help a church rebuild. Our communities are being
terrorized and we have to do something about it" ("SportsCenter,"
ESPN, 6/10).
