LEAGUE NOTES

     Mexican fans have bought "all but a handful" of tickets for
an August 5 exhibition between the Cowboys and Chiefs at the
45,000-seat Monterrey Univ. Stadium (WASHINGTON POST, 6/9)....The
'96 Breeders' Cup Championship, scheduled for October 26, will
move from Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto to a new site to be
chosen by mid-June (Breeders' Cup)....Next season, NHL officials
will call delay-of-game penalties against a team whose fans
throws objects onto the ice (MIAMI HERALD, 6/8)....The USGA's
Exec Committee meets this week to select the site for the 2001
U.S. Open, with Black Page, Merion and Hazeltine the frontrunners
(NEWSDAY, 6/9)....The inaugural Palmer Cup, an annual Ryder Cup-
like competition pitting U.S. collegiate golfers vs. U.K.
counterparts, will be played in St. Andrews, Scotland in '97.
