     Former Mavs Owner Donald Carter said the team's association
with alcohol was one of the reason's he reduced his stake in the
franchise.  Carter: "I gotta be honest.  I wasn't aware the
Mavericks had developed considerably more in sponsorship from
alcohol and beer.  I should have picked up on it sooner" (DALLAS
MORNING NEWS, 6/9)....The Patriots have sold 59,000 season
tickets and now have a waiting list of a few thousand (BOSTON
GLOBE, 6/9)....Part of the deal with new Nets Coach John Calipari
is thought to be a new practice facility for the team (NEWSDAY,
6/8).
