The White Sox and Diamondbacks have agreed to share a spring
training facility in Tucson, AZ beginning in '98, according to
Paul Sullivan of the CHICAGO TRIBUNE. The White Sox had been at
Sarasota for 38 consecutive years (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 5/31). The
two squads will share the $28M training complex with seating
capacity of 11,000, along with 13 practice fields. This will
bring the number of Cactus League teams to 10 (Don Ketchum,
ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 5/31). Orioles Owner Peter Angelos said he is
"interested" in possibly moving to Sarasota if negotiations with
their home in Ft. Lauderdale fail (Baltimore SUN, 5/31).
