     Nike CEO PHIL KNIGHT has donated $25M to his alma matter,
the Univ. of Oregon, to be used toward construction of a new Law
School Center and professors' endowment fund.  UO President Dave
Frohnmayer:  "I have to say it.  Phil Knight just did it"
(Portland OREGONIAN, 5/24)....LON ROSEN, agent for MAGIC JOHNSON,
says three teams -- two in Italy and one in Argentina -- have
expressed an interest in signing Johnson ("NBA Today," ESPN,
5/28)....ALONZO MOURNING and WBC Welterweight Champion PERNELL
WHITAKER will be among those honored today by HUD Secretary HENRY
CISNEROS for being "Heroes of Public Housing" (WASHINGTON POST,
5/28).
     CLARIFICATION:  On Friday, USA Today mistakenly reported
that Disney exec Geraldine Laybourne would focus on developing
ESPN3 now that ABC's all-news cable channel has been postponed.
An ESPN spokesperson notes Steve Bornstein would oversee
development of any extension of ESPN, adding that there are no
official plans as of yet for an ESPN3.
