SABRES' ATTENDANCE SOARING BEFORE SEASON EVEN BEGINS

     Twenty-thousand Sabres fans spent Sunday touring the nearly
completed $127M Marine Midland Arena, forming lines "long enough
to challenge those at Disney World."  Some fans had been
concerned that sightlines would be inferior to those at The Aud,
where the Sabres had played since '70.  Larry Quinn, President of
Marine Midland Arena:  "The sightlines are fine.  The expectation
is that it's a bigger building and that it won't be that good.
Then they see it and say, `It's pretty good.'"  The arena, with
20,000 seats and 80 luxury suites, opens next season (N.Y. TIMES,
5/21).
