NFL HOSTS CITIES AS CHASE FOR SUPER BOWL 2000 BEGINS

     Representatives from Atlanta, Tampa, Phoenix, L.A., and
Miami 's meet with NFL officials in New York today as the start
of the bid process for the 2000 Super Bowl.  The '99 and 2000
games will be awarded at a league owners meeting in October (Len
Pasquarelli, ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, 5/16).
     NEW POLICY: In S.F., Glenn Dickey notes 49ers President
Carmen Policy has been working to formulate a better NFL response
on franchise relocation.  Policy has proposed that cities
currently without NFL teams be designated as "NFL property," with
the league controlling which teams (existing or expansion) move
there (S.F. CHRONICLE, 5/16).
