SENATORS HOLD WORLD CUP RANSOM WITH 11,000-TICKET GOAL

In an effort to sell 11,000 season tickets next season, the
Senators are using the World Cup of Hockey "as bait," since only
Senators season-ticket holders will be guaranteed seats for
September's games at the Corel Center. The OTTAWA CITIZEN
reports the 18,500-seat Corel Center is one of five North
American venues for the Cup, and will stage three matches. Non-
season ticket holders will only get a chance to buy Cup tickets
after Senator season ticket holders with tickets to all three Cup
games have been given an opportunity to buy extra tickets.
Though World Cup ticket prices will match Senators ticket prices
for season-ticket holders, prices for the public "will probably
be 15% higher." As of Wednesday, the Senators have sold 7,700
season tickets (Michael Prentice, OTTAWA CITIZEN, 5/16).
