PAC-10 MAY BRING BACK POST-SEASON BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

With "state-of-the-art" arenas available in every major Pac-
10 market, there appears to be interest in bringing the post-
season basketball tournament, on a six-year hiatus, back again,
according to the ARIZONA REPUBLIC. Another factor is the
conference's recent alignment with Liberty Sports to create Pac-
10 Properties. Pac-10 Assistant Commissioner Jim Muldoon said
there has been no formal discussion yet, but he expects it to be
on the agenda at the conference's annual spring meeting at the
end of May in Portland. Muldoon said it is "reasonable" to
assume the conference would be better off if the event took place
in an "attractive facility, had strong television rights fees,
and added corporate sponsors through Pac-10 Properties" (Lee
Shappell, ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 4/25).
