O'MALLEY WILL REPORT ON STADIUM FEASIBILITY STUDY IN JUNE

Dodgers Owner Peter O'Malley said if his feasibility study
is positive, he will announce in June his intention to build the
"world's best" football stadium and then solicit the NFL for an
expansion franchise, according to T.J. Simers of the L.A. TIMES.
O'Malley has "already begun instituting changes to satisfy
neighborhood concerns to clear the way for a football facility
next to Dodger Stadium." But Simers notes "roadblocks" already
are in place, including L.A. Mayor Richard Riordan's Ad Hoc
Sports Franchises Committee which approved $100,000 to market the
Coliseum as the only site within L.A. to be considered for
football. Tom Tellesfsen, Chair of the L.A. Convention and
Visitors Bureau, notes O'Malley "is definitely the leader right
now and has the inside track because of his reputation." But he
adds, "Nobody knows if O'Malley's numbers on this thing will work
out, so the Coliseum has an opportunity to get its numbers
together and make a presentation on to the NFL as a viable
option" (T.J. Simers, L.A. TIMES, 4/20).
