OLYMPIC NEWS AND NOTES

     ACOG plans to have 42,500 volunteers for the Games, but
officials would like 52,000 to cover any drop-outs.  So far,
35,000 have been identified, although they have not been
screened, trained and uniformed (ATLANTA CONSTITUTION,
4/19)....Salt Lake City's selection to host an Olympic
Development Center will be worth "at least" $1M to local sports
programs (DESERET NEWS, 4/17)....Other cities selected to have
Development Centers include Minneapolis and San Antonio
(Minneapolis STAR-TRIBUNE, 4/14).....Bausch & Lomb formally
announced their Olympic Vision Center, a comprehensive sports
vision testing facility designed to screen the visual skills of
athletes competing in the Atlanta Games (Bausch & Lomb)....As
part of GM's rites as exclusive domestic car and truck sponsor of
the Atlanta Games, every GM division except Saturn will be major
advertisers during the NBC broadcast of the Games through a $50M
buy (ADVERTISING AGE, 4/15 issue).
