PHARMATON SIGNS SCOTTIE PIPPEN TO PITCH GINSANA

Bulls forward Scottie Pippen has signed a one-year
endorsement deal with Pharmaton Natural Health's Ginsana brand
ginseng supplement, according to BRANDWEEK. Sources say the deal
is worth $500,000 and is part of a repositioning effort designed
to attract younger customers. Ginsana is doubling marketing
expenditures to $15M this year and moving to TV advertising for
the first time after years as a "heavy radio spender." Pharmaton
GM Tom Peterson: "We've built a good business among adults over-
45, and what we're trying to do with Scottie is try to extend
that to 35-plus." TV buys are expected in "fringe news," with
print purchases in men's specialty titles Playboy, Men's Health
and Esquire (Terry Lefton, BRANDWEEK, 4/15 issue).
