USTA ACES U.S. OPEN FOOD-SERVICE PROVIDERS

The USTA is dismissing New York-based Restaurant Associates
as food-service provider of the U.S. Open after more than 20
years of service, according to today's N.Y. POST. The USTA is
"on the verge" of giving the business to a group of companies,
including Joseph Baum & Michael Whiteman Co., operator of the
Rainbow Room, and Glorious Food, known caterers of New York's
"elite." The companies would work under the umbrella of
Sportservice Corp., a subsidiary of Buffalo-based Delaware North
Companies. Under the deal, Sportservice will provide concessions
at the National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows. Glorious Food
will handle catering and Joseph Baum takes over restaurant
service. Restaurant Associates confirmed their contract was not
renewed, but declined to provide reasons. Delaware North is run
by Bruins Owner Jeremy Jacobs and owns the FleetCenter and serves
the MLB Cardinals, White Sox, Reds, Tigers and Celtics (Cynthia
Vespereny, N.Y. POST, 4/12).
