FORMER A'S PITCHER DAVE STEWART OPENS SPORTS MARKETING FIRM

     Dave Stewart, the former A's pitcher, and Dave Perron, who
used to direct the A's community outreach projects, have
established a new sports marketing and communications company
called Open Field: Sports Strategies.  The company will provide
management, marketing and communications expertise to athletes,
professional sports organizations and corporations.  Jay
Silverberg, a Bay Area public relations consultant, will join
Stewart and Perron as a principal in Open Field.  Current Open
Field clients include A's Terry Steinbach and Mark McGwire,
Cardinals pitcher Dennis Eckersley and Interactive video
producers Fathom Pictures (Open Field).  Stewart is listed in the
A's media guide as a special assistant to A's GM Sandy Alderson
(THE DAILY).
