GLOVEMAKER WELLS LAMONT TAKES A SPIN AROUND THE NASCAR TRACK

     Glovemaker Wells Lamont has identified NASCAR as a "niche
opportunity" for gloves, according to the CHICAGO TRIBUNE, and
the company is introducing a variety of NASCAR-logoed gloves
under license as well as with the name of NASCAR legend Dale
Earnhardt.  The growing popularity of NASCAR led Wells Lamont
into this latest venture.  Wells Lamont has also had a licensing
link with the NFL, marketing gloves with team names.  Wells
Lamont VP/Marketing Gordon Garrett thinks the gloves can be a
several-million-dollar business for the company and "hints" that
the company may enter other sports categories for similar deals
(George Lazarus, CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 4/11).
