RAVENS KNOCKING, KNOCKING ON THE BALTIMORE'S NFL DOOR?

     Baltimore's NFL team will announce a team name today at a
press conference at the city's Inner Harbor.  It will "almost
certainly" be Ravens, according to Jon Morgan of the Baltimore
SUN.   A phone-in poll conducted by the SUN for the team ends at
10am EST, with fans to choose among three finalists: Ravens,
Americans, and Marauders (Baltimore SUN, 3/29).  After a name is
selected, NFL Properties will produce a logo and colors for the
team, to be approved by the franchise and league office.  NFLP
officials said a full line of merchandise will be available by
the season opener, and it is possible licensed caps, shirts, and
sweatshirts could be in stores by mid-June (THE DAILY).
