     Shares in Penske Motorsports debut on NASDAQ at $24 per
share today.  Underwriters CS First Boston Corp. and Merrill
Lynch said the IPO is "significantly oversubscribed" (DETROIT
NEWS, 3/27)....Quaker Oats Co. announced yesterday it will build
a $50M plant in south Fulton County, GA, to bottle Gatorade and
Snapple (ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, 3/27).... American consumers
purchased 2.7% fewer pairs of athletic footwear in '95 than in
'94, but total retail dollars for such shoes rose 1.5%, due to
increased purchases by women, according to a survey by Footwear
Market Insights, Nashville (Fitness Products Council)....Cobra
Golf has entered into an exclusive three-year representation and
endorsement agreement with LPGA Hall of Famer Pat Bradley.  She
will play King Cobra oversize woods and King Cobra irons (Cobra).
...Superluxury refrigerator maker Sub-Zero, has supplied 13
refrigerators to Michael Jordan's new Highland Park home.  The
Madison, WI-based firm has supplied the refrigerating needs of
other sports stars (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 3/27).... Wilson Sporting
Goods has announced the addition of AVP players Eric Fonoimoana
and Bill Boullianne to the company's Volleyball Advisor Staff.
They will endorse Wilson balls and volleyball-related products as
well as serve as company spokepersons (Wilson)....For the fourth
consecutive year, U.S. sporting goods exports reached double-
digit growth for an all-time high of $2.16B in '95.  The '95
growth rate of 21.4% surpassed the '93-94 increase of 15.5%
(SGMA)....76er Jerry Stackhouse, on his Fila "Baby" ads:
"Everybody's talking about it.  They all like the '70's thing,
the afros and how the baby jumps off the guy's head" ("Up Close,"
ESPN, 3/26)....Pepsi announces today a giveaway of $125M in
merchandise as part of its "Pepsi Stuff" promotion -- their
answer to Coca-Cola's Olympic push.  More than 170 million "Pepsi
Stuff" catalogs, featuring Deion Sanders and Andre Agassi, roll
out this week (USA TODAY, 3/27).
