MILWAUKEE STADIUM BOARD MULLS BREWERS PROPOSAL -- IN SECRET

Robert Trunzo, head of the Milwaukee Professional Baseball
Park District, sent a letter to the Brewers yesterday informing
them the board would not operate under a "gag order" included in
the club's latest proposal to finance its $90M share of a new
ballpark. Amy Rinard reports in this morning's MILWAUKEE JOURNAL
SENTINEL that is one of many conditions imposed by Brewers
financier NationsBank "not acceptable" to board members. Brewers
President Bud Selig said the gag order was necessary to avoid
conducting negotiations in public. Other board objections
include: 1) That NationsBank will have first mortgage on the new
stadium despite the fact the district will own and pay for 60% of
it; 2) That NationsBank would have a lien on some of the
district's tax revenue; and 3) NationsBank approval would be
required before the district could spend money (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL
SENTINEL, 3/27).
