SNEAKER PREVIEW: JAYHAWKS DEBUT ALL STAR 2000'S TONIGHT

The Univ. of Kansas men's basketball team will provide a
sneak preview of the new Converse All Star 2000 performance
basketball shoe tonight in their NCAA tournament game against
Arizona. The All Star 2000 ($75 retail) takes its design
inspiration from the original canvas Chuck Taylor All Star,
utilizing the textured toe, midsole striping and the "Chuck
Taylor" patch. The shoe also incorporates state-of-the-art
features to meet the demands of players in the '90s. The All
Star 2000 marks the first time since the mid-'70s that Converse
has placed the All Star patch on a performance basketball shoe.
The Jayhawks will be wearing a white leather All Star 2000 with
red and blue accents. The shoes will not have a retail presence
until July (Converse).
NCAA UPDATE: Of the 12 teams left in the men's NCAA
Tournament, nine wear Nike and three Converse (THE DAILY).
