COLISEUM CONSTRUCTION COMES UP CRAPS, A'S TO VEGAS FOR SIX

The A's will play their first six home games of the upcoming
season at 10,000-seat Cashman Field in Las Vegas because of the
"unsettled nature" of football-related construction at Oakland
Coliseum, according to this morning's OAKLAND TRIBUNE. John
Hickey reports both the club and the AL "have given up hope" the
facility will be ready for the A's to host the Blue Jays and
Tigers between April 1-7. Blue Jays Player Rep Ed Sprague said
the site is agreeable with player reps from all teams involved.
The AAA Las Vegas Stars are scheduled to play at Cashman Field
starting April 4, but apparently the A's and Stars have been able
to work out an agreement. The A's lease stipulates the Coliseum
must reimburse the club for expenses related to games played
outside of the facility. It is not clear if that includes lost
ticket revenue (OAKLAND TRIBUNE, 3/18).
