STADIUM NOTES

S.F. Giants Owner Peter Magowan said other owners are
probably "rooting against" his China Basin ballpark proposal,
since it would impair efforts to build stadiums with public
money. Magowan: "A message is going to be sent to every mayor
in this country that they no longer have to fear blackmail from
sports owners" (S.F. EXAMINER, 3/14).... The Redskins have agreed
to hold no more than 25 pro sports events per year at their new
Landover, MD, stadium -- a provision sought by the Orioles to
keep another MLB team out of the state (Baltimore SUN, 3/15).
Redskins Owner Jack Kent Cooke will donate a skybox each to the
Prince George's County government and to the state of Maryland as
part of his financing deal (WASHINGTON POST, 3/15).
