AVON AND GENERAL MOTORS LOOK TO "ACHIEVE THE DREAM"

Olympic sponsors Avon and General Motors are teaming up for
the "Achieve the Dream" promotional sweepstakes, according to
BRANDWEEK. The sweepstakes is promoted on the cover of a special
132-page Olympic-themed Avon brochure, which has a two-page
spread of the Olympic Gold Skylark. Entrants fill out a form in
the middle of the brochure, which includes an Olympic quiz
involving three of Avon's "Olympic Ambassadors": Joan Benoit-
Samuelson, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, and synchronized swimmer Becky
Dyroen-Lancer. Six winners will be awarded a grand prize of a
'96 Olympic Gold Skylark, coinciding with a spring Olympic push
by GM, including its UAW/GM "Drive the Olympic Spirit" caravan.
Skylark owners are 62% female making it a good fit with Avon.
GM's Olympic models feature the rings and cosmetic touches such
as gold-tinged wheels. Other prizes include an Avon-sponsored
trip to Atlanta, 300 pairs of Rayban sunglasses, 300 pairs of
Reebok's Captiva shoes and 250 Interplak removers (Steve Gelsi,
BRANDWEEK, 2/26 issue).
