ADS FEATURING UCONN COACH CALHOUN BARRED OVER ETHICS

Southern New England Telephone (SNET) will drop references
to UConn in a series of ads featuring basketball coach Jim
Calhoun following a complaint from the State Ethics Commission.
According to today's HARTFORD COURANT, CT's Code of Ethics bars
state employees "from obtaining financial benefit by appearing in
ads that make direct reference to their state position." Ads
featuring a picture of Calhoun identified him as UConn's coach.
The commission said it is alright to identify him as "Coach Jim
Calhoun," as long as UConn is not mentioned (HARTFORD COURANT,
2/25).
