DENIAL ONCE WON'T KEEP BRETT FROM PURSUING ROYALS OWNERSHIP

Royals VP George Brett said while he was denied in a bid in
December to negotiate for the Royals, he will pursue the team
when it goes on the market, according to the K.C. STAR. Brett
told columnist Jason Whitlock that, contrary to reports, he never
was allowed to make a financial bid on the team, as the club's
Board of Directors "turned down Brett's inquiry before the
process ever reached a final bid." Whitlock reports the Board
voted at the time to wait to sell the club. Brett added that
Rush Limbaugh was not a part of the bid, and that he was told the
team will be on the market in three years (K.C. STAR, 2/27).
