MEDIA NOTES

     SportsTicker announced its news and information service will
be offered on PCN -- The PointCast Network, a free online news
service.  PointCast delivers instant broadcast news and
information directly to a viewer's computer screen
(SportsTicker)....CNN reported on "the one-stop digital
Disneyland," as Disney has premiered its own page on the Web.
The site, which contains audio clips, visual clips, information
on theme parks, and merchandise can be found at
http://www.disney.com ("Showbiz Today," 2/22)....CTV's NBA
telecasts are drawing about one-third of the viewers of CBC's
"Hockey Night in Canada."  Sunday afternoon NBA games have been
averaging 350-400,000 viewers, compared to around 1.2-1.4 million
on "HNIC."  But the NBA All-Star Game drew 1.15 million and the
last prime-time game between Vancouver and Toronto drew 600,000
(TORONTO SUN, 2/23).... The final rating for the '96 Daytona 500
last Sunday on CBS was a 9.2 and a 24 share in figures released
by Nielsen Media Research.  It is the fifth best rating for the
event since CBS began live coverage in '79 (CBS
Sports)....Prodigy Services named Randolph "Chip" Austin to the
newly created position of VP/GM, Internet Access.  He was at
McKinsey and Company, Inc (Prodigy)....Fox News President Joe
Peyronnin resigned yesterday.  He is being replaced by former
CNBC President Roger Ailes (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 2/23)....Turner
Sports President Harvey Schiller said "a deal is close" for TNT
to televise a Grand Prix track meet May 18 in Atlanta's Olympic
Stadium (USA TODAY, 2/23)....In Philadelphia, Bill Fleischman
profiles Laureen Ong, the new Senior VP/GM at
Prism/SportsChannel.  Ong said the Prism/SC subscriber base is at
400,000 but that a more competitive 76ers team would help attract
subscribers (PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS, 2/23).
