     New Pirates Owner Kevin McClatchy has "nearly tripled" the
club's marketing budget and is targeting 1.4 million as his goal
for attendance this season (Pittsburgh TRIBUNE-REVIEW,
2/23)....Shaun Powell reports the NBA "has leaned" on Clippers
Owner Donald Sterling to move his operations full-time to the
Pond at Anaheim.  However, Powell notes "few expect Sterling to
relocate" (THE SPORTING NEWS, 2/26 issue)....Rumors persist in
Baltimore that the AHL Bandits may either be sold or leave town.
Team officials deny any changes are in the works (Baltimore SUN,
2/23).
