     NBC Sports President Dick Ebersol said he has "no lingering
damage" to his heart after undergoing an angioplasty on Friday.
Ebersol will stay in a San Antonio hospital until Wednesday and
vows to change his health habits (USA TODAY, 2/13)...More than 40
Southern CA cable operators will open a second channel to
accommodate two Prime Sports live events this Thursday evening.
Cable operators will carry UCLA-Arizona men's college basketball
on Prime's regular spot, and the Mighty Ducks-Canucks on an
alternative channel (Prime Sports)....NEWSDAY's Steve Zipay
reports ABC will televise "some" games if the NBA goes ahead with
their plan to launch a women's basketball league of 12-16 teams
in April '97.  ABC "has been focusing more and more on women's
sports both in specials and 'Wide World.'"  ABC Sports' Mark
Mandel had no comment (NEWSDAY, 2/13).... Reporter David Aldridge
has left the Washington Post and is covering the NBA for ESPN
(Leonard Shapiro, WASHINGTON POST, 2/13)....In Toronto, Rob
Longley writes Ahmad Rashad is "still a little too chummy with
NBA players to give his sideline reports much worth" (TORONTO
SUN, 2/12).
