MODELL MAKES AN OFFER SHULA CAN REFUSE

     Don Shula has rejected an offer by Art Modell to become part
of the new Baltimore NFL franchise as either a coach or member of
the front office, according to Mike Preston of the Baltimore SUN.
Modell said after a conversation with Shula that "Don is very
comfortable right now and doesn't want to give up his life in
South Florida" (Baltimore SUN, 2/13).
     NAME GAME: The AFL Milwaukee Mustangs informed Modell, the
NFL and NFLP that they plan to "vigorously protect" their rights
to their name, one of those suggested for the new Baltimore
franchise (WASHINGTON TIMES, 2/13).
