NFL MAKES RECOMMENDATION ON BERTOLINI-RUN CARD SHOW

     ESPN followed up on a "SportsCenter" report from last week
on the involvement of several Cowboys players in a card show run
by convicted felon Mike Bertolini.  Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones:
"If they're aware of his background, then they'll make the
decision.  I'll assure you, Emmitt Smith, he is a businessman."
ESPN's Sal Paolantonio reported that NFL Security plans to "send
a letter to each participant in the show warning them" of
Bertolini's tax investigation and gambling links ("SportsCenter,"
1/26)....On "Sports Weekly," Jack Edwards reported that agent
Leigh Steinberg would heed the suggestions of NFL Security and
urge his clients to stay away from Bertolini's show ("Sports
Weekly," ESPN, 1/28).
