CBA ROCKERS TALK ABOUT ROCKING ON OUT OF TOWN

Chicago Rockers President Chris Devine is discussing moving
the CBA franchise out of its home at the UIC Pavilion in downtown
Chicago as early as next season, according to the CHICAGO
TRIBUNE. The hope is that a move will boost attendance. The
team has averaged 2,025 through the first 15 games of this
season. One plan has the team building a bubble stadium in the
northwest suburbs capable of seating 4,000 fans. According to
Devine, his goal is to "make the product accessible." With 75%
of the team's season-ticket holders living outside Chicago's city
limits and an appeal targeted to families, a suburban location
would help. Also, operating its own facility would also the
team with its bottom line, as the Rockers would control all
arena-related revenue. Devine estimates spending $500,000 on a
new complex (Dave Surico, CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 1/13).
