SNOWBOARD MAKERS AIM FOR WOMEN WHO LIKE TO SHRED

     Women make up about 18% of the snowboarding population, and
"their growing presence is prompting manufacturers to take
special notice lately," writes Barbara Lloyd in the N.Y. TIMES.
Manufacturers say the women's snowboarding population could grow
to 40% by the end of the decade.  Burton Snowboards has designed
two women's boot styles in its '96 line and will feature seven
styles next year.  Manufacturers will make a presence next week
at the first annual National Women's Ski and Snowboard week,
which takes place at Stowe, VT, Mammoth, CA and Winter Park, CO.
The week will feature clinics seminars and equipment information
sessions and is sponsored by Suburu (N.Y. TIMES, 1/11).
