group planning a centennial celebration of the 1904 World's Fair
in 2004, said plans could include bidding for the Super Bowl,
NCAA Final Four or MLB All-Star Game (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH,
1/9)....JACK NEWFIELD's book on boxing promoter DON KING, "Only
in America: The Life and Crimes of Don King," will be made into
an HBO movie scheduled for release in early '97 (PHILADELPHIA
INQUIRER, 1/10)....JAY LENO will host the NFL Alumni Player of
the Year awards dinner in Phoenix on the eve of Super Bowl XXX
(USA TODAY, 1/8)....The FT. LAUDERDALE SUN-SENTINEL reported the
FBI is investigating a series of incidents involving Marlins OF
GARY SHEFFIELD (PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS, 1/8)....The National
Council for Urban Economic Development will hold a conference on
stadium financing February 1-3 in Scottsdale, AZ.  The Council is
located in Washington, DC (CUED)....ESPN reports Padres OF RICKEY
HENDERSON is under investigation by the IRS for possible failure
to report income earned from autograph signing appearances
