     News from BRANDWEEK:  Troy Aikman will star in a spot for
Met-Rx beginning December 26.  The spots are part of Met-Rx's
strategy to "broaden usage of its products beyond hard-core
athletes."... Yamaha will launch its retro-style motorcycle with
a 30-second spot during Super Bowl XXX.  The spot for the Royal
Star bike will feature three leather-clad ghosts from cycling'
early days inspecting it.  The tagline:  "The Cruising Spirit
Lives" (BRANDWEEK, 12/11 issue).... CNBC's Sue Herara noted Cobra
Golf shares moved up 1 3/4 yesterday to $29/share.  CNBC
financial correspondent Dan Dorfman says "a takeover may be in
the works."  The buyer, according to CNBC, may be American
Brands, a tobacco company that "dabbles" in golf equipment
("Sports View," 12/12).... Veryfine Products, the MA-based juice
producer, has agreed to be the first tour-wide sponsor of the
Celebrity Golf Association.  The partnership includes media time,
on-course signage and hospitality.  Veryfine will also be the
CGA's official juice and beverage supplier.  Other companies,
Mobil, Isuzu and Boston Market, have sponsored tour stops (INSIDE
MEDIA ONLINE, 12/13)....As part of plan to cut "tens of millions"
from their operating budget, Alamo Rent-a-Car expects to save
$10M on marketing next year -- with new ads targeting specific
groups rather than the public at large (MIAMI HERALD, 12/13).
