OILERS STRIKING IT RICH WITH SUITE SALES IN TENNESSEE

At least 82 of the luxury suites in a planned stadium for
the Oilers in Nashville have been sold, according to the HOUSTON
CHRONICLE. The Oilers' agreement with Nashville required 82
suites, costing between $50,000 and $125,000, be sold by January
20 -- and the team has reached the milestone "more than a month
early." Demand has been so strong, the team is considering
adding more suites to the 125 currently planned. John Williams
notes since at least 82 suites have been bought, it will be
"tough" for state and city officials to oppose public funding of
the deal. Oilers Exec VP Mike McClure said all of the suites
were sold in TN, without having to look to AL or KY. The next
deadline is February 15, at which time the team must have sold
$71.5M in PSLs which will help with the $292M stadium and
relocation package. Next month, Oilers Owner Bud Adams will take
part in a two-day tour of TN to build support for PSL sales, with
a telethon included (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 12/13).
