EXECUTIVE TRANSACTIONS

     Today's BOSTON GLOBE reports Islanders coach MIKE MILBURY is
expected to be named team GM today.  He will continue to coach
the team, but will likely "relinquish bench duties" after the
season to focus full-time as GM (BOSTON GLOBE, 12/12)....GEOFFREY
MASON was named Exec Producer at ESPN International.  He is
formerly ABC Sports' Exec Producer from '88-91 (ESPN).  Also at
ESPN, MICHAEL CHICO joined as Senior VP/Integrated Sales and
Market Research.  He had been VP/Marketing, Research and
Marketing Sales for Cap Cities/ABC (ESPN)....PIERRE GAUTHIER was
named GM of the Senators, replacing Randy Sexton who was fired.
Gauthier was Mighty Ducks Assistant GM (SportsTicker).... SAMUEL
SMITH, President of Washington State Univ., has been named Chair
of the Div. I Subcommittee of the NCAA Presidents Commission
(NCAA)....MARSHALL HAPPER, former head of the USTA, is said to be
"considering several offers" from TV networks and cable
operators.  N.Y. POST's Neal Travis writes insiders say Happer is
"one of the few people who understands the ins and outs of
marketing sports franchises, both at home and worldwide" (N.Y.
POST, 12/12).
