STANDING BY THEIR BUD: OILERS SPONSORS DON'T JUMP FROM RIG

Unlike in Cleveland, the Oilers are not reporting an exodus
of stadium sponsors or TV advertising since their announced move
to Nashville. ADWEEK's Glen Fest reports observers in Houston
attribute the "lack of shock value" in the move and the "long-
term dysfunctional relationship" between the city and Owner Bud
Adams to the lack of any fan backlash. Astrodome officials say
they have not lost any signage deals because of the announcement,
while officials at KPRC, Houston's NBC affiliate, report ad time
on Oiler games "is selling well." KPRC General Sales Manager
Kathleen Keefe: "We're finding there are a lot of closet Oiler
fans, who say they hate Bud Adams and are never going to another
game. But the ratings are as strong as they've ever been"
(ADWEEK, 12/4 issue).
