BUCKY BADGER SOLD: REEBOK TO PUT CLOTHES, SHOES ON WISCONSIN

Reebok and the Univ. of Wisconsin-Madison have reached a
tentative five-year, multimillion dollar deal for the
shoe/apparel company to outfit all UW players and coaches. Terms
of the deal were undisclosed, but Dennis Chaptman of the
MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL notes Reebok signed a similar six-year
deal with UCLA for $6.48M. Reebok VP/Global Marketing Dan
Hanrahan said UW's success in product marketing "helped draw"
Reebok to Madison. Chaptman reports in recent years, the Badgers
have brought in about $1.4M a year in licensing revenue.
However, not all were pleased by the deal, as about 25 protesters
demonstrated outside a meeting between Reebok and UW officials.
In addition to Wisconsin and UCLA, Reebok has a all-school
athletic deal with Texas (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 12/10).
