BREWERS BROADCASTER HUGHES SIGNS ON TO CUB BROADCASTS

Long-time Brewers radio broadcaster Pat Hughes was selected
by WGN Radio to handle broadcasts of Cubs games in a two-year
deal. Yesterday, it was reported that Chip Caray, Harry Caray's
grandson, had won the radio job. Hughes will call nine innings
of the games on radio, with partner Ron Santo serving as analyst.
Hughes replaces Harry Caray, who used to call three innings on
radio, and Thom Brennaman, who called six. Brennaman has left
WGN and Caray's role will be "confined to WGN telecasts" (Bob
Wolfley, MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 11/30). Chip Caray remains
a candidate for the TV job (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 11/30).
