FRANCHISE NOTES: POLITICIANS TO BLAME FOR SEATTLE PROBLEMS?

     Bart Wright notes the Seahawks' dilemma in his Tacoma NEWS
TRIBUNE column: "If there was an ounce of political courage in
any (county politicians), by now we would have heard one of our
elected officials take up the cause of finding a way to keep the
only profitable pro sports franchise in King County from moving."
At the end of his column, Wright lists the names and numbers of
the members of the county council "who aren't trying to keep pro
football in Seattle" (Tacoma NEWS TRIBUNE, 11/29)....Islanders VP
of Hockey Ops Al Arbour said yesterday he does not want to be
considered as a replacement for "embattled" GM Don Maloney (Jim
Smith, NEWSDAY, 11/30)....The MIAMI HERALD's Joseph Tanfani notes
a group of three Miami lawyers are starting to organize a
community ownership model for the Panthers based on the Packers
ownership structure (MIAMI HERALD, 11/30)....
CFL Stallions Owner Jim Speros yesterday announced the "Save Our
Stallions" drive to keep the CFL franchise in Baltimore. The goal
of the drive is to sign up 20,000 season-ticket holders for '96
(Baltimore SUN, 11/30).
