RAYCOM FOUNDER RICK RAY ANNOUNCES RESIGNATION

     Rick Ray, CEO & President of Raycom, Inc., will resign his
position after 16 years.  Ray will continue to serve on the Board
of Directors of Ellis Communications, the parent company of
Raycom.  Burt Ellis, President/CEO of Ellis Communications, will
assume the CEO function at Raycom.  Ray, who founded the company
with his wife Dee in '79, said he wanted to take time "to be with
my family and enjoy life" (Raycom).  Under Ray, the company has
grown from a "obscure, four-person operation to a company with
sales exceeding" $100M a year, according to the CHARLOTTE
OBSERVER.  Ray has spoke of a future in movie production and may
work to bring films to NC (Taylor Batten, CHARLOTTE OBSERVER,
11/29).
