With the annual year-end CFL Board of Governors meeting
convening in Toronto today, the "reshaping" will begin. Top of
the agenda is the CFL's "crumbling U.S. expansion project"
(TORONTO SUN, 11/29). The three-day meeting "has been called the
most important gathering in the history of the league" (Vancouver
PROVINCE, 11/29)....Toronto and Boston are out as sites for the
new hockey World Cup. Ottawa and Montreal will host all final
games held in Canada, while St. Louis, Philadelphia, Detroit and
San Jose are being considered for games held in the U.S. The
tournament opens August 29 in Vancouver, with Canucks GM Pat
Quinn hopeful that Team Canada will train in B.C. and participate
in a PGA Tour stop he is co-chairing (TORONTO SUN,
11/29)....NASCAR's press advisory previewing tomorrow's New York
press briefing on plans for an international series refers to the
"Pacific Rim" (NASCAR). USA TODAY reports Winston Cup drivers
will hold an exhibition November '96 in Suzuka, Japan (USA TODAY,
11/29)....The PGA Tour's Tournament Policy Board has ruled that
only the top 125 money winners on the Tour will be fully exempt
the following year, thereby increasing access for all qualifying
tournament grads. Also, the number of sponsor exemptions for
nonmembers was increased from five to seven (PGA Tour).
