MIAMI COMMISSION CHAIR TEELE PROMISES NEW ARENA BY 1998

     Miami Metro Commission Chair Arthur Teele promised a new
arena would be built in Dade County in time for the '98
basketball season, according to the MIAMI HERALD.  Teele pledged
Miami would keep the NHL and NBA in a "showplace sports palace,"
without new taxes or large upfront payments from team owners.  He
even said he would work with the NHL to make sure the city has a
hockey team, even if the Panthers move.  Teele declined to reveal
the financing for such a project, but said he would have a
"solid" plan ready in two months (Joseph Tanfani, MIAMI HERALD,
11/21).
