     The '96 Super Show in Atlanta will be the focus of a prime-
time ESPN special to air in mid-March.  Millsport is handling
production and commercial sales (BRANDWEEK, 11/13). ....Fox's
21.7 overnight for the Cowboys-49ers was the highest for a Sunday
afternoon since the last game of '93 (Cowboys-Giants) received a
22.0 (USA TODAY, 11/14).... Commenting on Joe Montana's comment
he didn't blame Art Modell for leaving Cleveland because "it's a
business," the N.Y. DAILY NEWS' Bob Raissman writes, "Montana
offered proof positive how out of touch many players are with the
feelings of the people who stand by them through good times and
bad" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 11/14)....HBO's "Fields of Fire: Sports in
the '60's" premieres tonight.  The documentary examines the
effect of the volatile era on sports.  Milton Kent calls it "true
must-see viewing for sports fans of any age" (Baltimore SUN,
11/14)....Canwest Global Communications has launched a bid to
take over Vancouver-based WIC Western Int'l Communications Ltd.
The acquisition could create what CanWest head Israel Asper calls
"a third national force in Canadian broadcasting" (WINNIPEG FREE
PRESS, 11/14)....CBS announced they will telecast Notre Dame-Navy
on November 2, 1996, from Dublin (CBS Sports).  USA TODAY's Rudy
Martzke calls it another "aggressive move into college football"
for CBS.   Although estimates had CBS losing "at least" $10M on
alliance bowls rights fees, CBS spokesperson Leslie Ann Wade said
it "is a definite money maker" (USA TODAY, 11/14).
