NASHVILLE MAYOR SAYS OILERS MAY MOVE NEXT SEASON

Nashville Mayor Phil Bredesen said Monday he would not be
surprised if the Oilers try to break their lease with the
Astrodome and start playing in TN next season, according to this
morning's HOUSTON CHRONICLE. Bredesen: "It can't be attractive
to them to play a two-year stub season in Houston once they've
committed to come here." Bredesen and aides are eyeing potential
'96 sites in Nashville, Memphis and Knoxville. Sometime this
week, Oilers Owner Bud Adams is expected to sign a non-binding
agreement with Nashville. Conditions of the agreement will give
Houston officials until March to keep the team, however John
Williams notes there has been "virtually no local support for
putting together a counterproposal" (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 11/14).
SI's Peter King noted the city of Nashville has to sell 45,000
PSLs at up to $5000 per seat by March 1, or the deal is off
("Monday Night Football," ABC, 11/13).
