     KMart Executive VP Charles Chinni resigned yesterday, in a
move that "confirms ongoing turmoil and perhaps an even bleaker
near-term future" for the retailer, according to this morning's
CHICAGO TRIBUNE.  Genevieve Buck reports that Chinni was hired
just eight months ago to help revitalize the stores and bring
back customers (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 10/27)....Tulsa-based ODS
Technologies was profiled on CNBC's "Sports View."  The company
debuts it's home betting interactive technology in Louisville
this weekend for the Breeder's Cup ("Sports View," CNBC,
10/26)....Ski Areas around Colorado are reporting "major" jumps
in reservations after blizzard conditions during last Sunday's
Broncos-Chiefs game shown nationally on NBC (DENVER POST
10/24)....Dean Schownewald's Professional Mascot School is
profiled in the latest INSIDE SPORTS.  Schownewald on the
strategy he teaches his students: "The hardest person to make
laugh is a 35-year-old man.  Any kid is in your pocket; they like
any character in a costume.  We've got to make sure adults like
us."  Schownewald says he plans to hold future classes away from
his Nashville base, possibly in Hawaii and Boston (INSIDE SPORTS,
12/95 issue)....NHL fan balloting for the All Star Game will
begin today.  The voting will be sponsored by Russell Athletic,
and presented by Dodge.  Fans will be able to vote at each NHL
arena, along with 1,000 retail outlets, including JC Penney's,
Herman's Sporting Goods, and Champs Sports.   Ballots will also
be available in Sports Illustrated and the NHL/NHLPA PowerPlay
Magazine, set to debut November 1 (NHL)....Quaker Oats reported
first quarter net income up seven percent, to $61.5M, up from
$57.3M (USA TODAY, 10/27).
