LACK OF A RANKING PRODUCING RANK SALES NUMBERS AT MIAMI

     Sales of Univ. of Miami merchandise have "plummeted locally,
nationally and within the university," as their football team has
"plunged from prominence to mediocrity," writes Susan Degnan in
this morning's MIAMI HERALD.  As a result, Miami AD Paul Dee said
the school is "looking into adding a logo" to represent the
athletic program and "boost merchandise sales."  UM handles its
own licensing and is not part of the Collegiate Licensing
Company.  The school's licensing fees exceeded $4.5M last year,
with sales possibly off as much as 40% this year (MIAMI HERALD,
10/26).
