STADIUM NOTES

The Red Sox plan to meet with key policy members to "revive"
their proposed ballpark along Fort Point Channel in South Boston.
Team Exec VP John Buckley said they remain "puzzled and
disappointed" that last week's House Ways and Means Committee
bill excluded any public funding for land and infrastructure to
prepare a site for a new stadium (BOSTON HERALD, 10/20)....Under
a new lease agreement, the Giants will play at the Meadowlands
for the next 30 years. The NJSEA will also phase in a 33%
decrease in rent and the Giants will get a "slight" increase in
its share of parking revenues (N.Y. TIMES, 10/20)....Redskins
Owner Jack Kent Cooke addressed the Redskins' need for a new
stadium: "As you know, we have the smallest stadium in the
National Football League, 54,000 capacity, we have no skyboxes
and no club seats at all. I have personally been subsidizing the
Redskins now for fifteen years, since 1980" (TNT, 10/19)....
Devil Rays general counsel John Higgins met yesterday with Citrus
County reps to hear their plans for a spring-training site (TAMPA
TRIBUNE, 10/20)....Construction of Nashville's arena is about two
months behind schedule, but officials say there is time to meet
next fall's planned opening. The delay stems from problems
getting steel (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 10/19)....Today's DETROIT
NEWS features a piece titled "Field of Dreams" -- a utopian look
at what the newspaper and its readers would like to see in a new
Tigers Stadium (DETROIT NEWS, 10/20)....In Atlanta, Atlanta-
Fulton County Stadium Exec Dir Reggie Williams thinks that
instead of demolishing Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium, it could be
used as a training facility (USA TODAY, 10/20).
