RAIDERS: The team unveiled its latest plans to boost PSL
sales: Fans will be allowed to buy a PSL from their company --
and pay for it over two years through an automatic payroll
deduction. The PSLs range between $250-4,000/seat. So far, 45
Bay Area companies -- including Clorox, Bank of America and
Chevron -- have signed up. "Weary Raiders marketing officials
have been trying to rebound after weeks of admitted chaos and
confusion surrounding the sale of PSLs." Also, the team is
preparing another marketing push, "after a $750,000 blitz started
two months ago failed to produce." This comes as the team still
has 8,000 tickets to sell for Sunday's Colts game, or risk
another local TV blackout. More important for the city and
county is that about 14,500 PSL and Club Level rights are still
for sale. Those sales are essential if the city and county are
to repay the $197M in bonds they sold to finance Coliseum changes
(Robert Salladay, OAKLAND TRIBUNE, 10/19).
A'S: Despite not being the ones to find a buyer for the
A's, Bank of America has billed Oakland and Alameda County
$500,290 for its efforts. It was a Coliseum official that found
Steve Schott, who eventually bought the team. Some Oakland
officials are "shocked at the final bill," but Bank of America
says it has a contract and it wants it fulfilled (Robert
Salladay, OAKLAND TRIBUNE, 10/19).
