MINNEAPOLIS SPORTS FACILITIES CHAIR SEEKS STATEWIDE AGENCY

     Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission Chair Henry
Savelkoul told Jay Weiner of the Minneapolis STAR-TRIBUNE the
MSFC should be replaced with a new "statewide or metro area
sports authority" to oversee the area's pro teams. Savelkoul said
the two-year-old MSFC needs to "restructure" and "must develop
credibility statewide."  He said a new agency should put together
a package for a new Twins ballpark and propose a metro-wide
referendum to see if voters are willing to pay for such a
facility.  If approved, he said management of a new stadium and
the Metrodome should be "privatized" (Minneapolis STAR-TRIBUNE,
