DON KING PUBLICIST TESTIFIES AGAINST HIM IN TRIAL

Gladys Rosa, a publicist and translator for Don King
Productions, testified under immunity yesterday that boxer Julio
Cesar Chavez never recieved $350,000 in nonrefundable training
expenses for a canceled '91 fight; that she did not recognize the
first page of contract which she negotiated that contained a ride
including the training expenses; and that a check payable to
Chavez for $736,000 submitted as backup to the insurance claim
was a loan Chavez is obligated to repay. Don King has been
charged with falsifying documents to collect $350,000 from
Lloyd's of London for training expenses he never paid Chavez.
Today, if Chavez is called as expected, the question, according
to NEWSDAY's Greg Logan, "is whether Chavez will stand by his
testimony to the grand jury or change his mind" (NEWSDAY, 10/17).
